What is a Notary?

A Notary is a qualified lawyer and member of the oldest branch of the legal profession in the UK. Notaries are appointed by the Archbishop of Canterbury and are subject to regulation by the Office of Faculties. There are approximately 850 Notaries in England and Wales.

How can a Notary help me?

The work of a notary includes the preparation and execution of legal documents for use abroad and acknowledging the authenticity of deeds and documents.

Notaries administer oaths and statutory declarations and also execute powers of attorney to buy or sell property.  The work of a notary is therefore particularly important if you are buying a property abroad and you require a  power of attorney to authorise a local solicitor or agent to act on your behalf.

If you would like to learn more about Notaries and what services they provide, please contact Lyndon Brain who will be happy to arrange a free consultation.
